Final Voyage Set for JAWS® & Amity Island

December 2nd, 2011 at 10:22 PM EST - by dpeachee

The Universal Orlando® Resort announced today the closing of the iconic JAWS® ride at Universal Studios Florida®. Captain Jake's Amity Boat Tours is set to close on January 2nd, 2012 making room for an exciting new attraction.

Although Universal has not released details on what will replace JAWS®, internet rumors suggest it will be replaced by either a Transformers themed ride or by an expansion of the popular Wizarding World of Harry Potter™.

Regardless which attraction ultimately replaces JAWS®, the fans will never forget the memories (and sometimes screams) they've enjoyed over the past 21 years. The JAWS® attraction has been operating at Universal Studios Florida® since the park first opened over 20 years ago.

Be sure to head over to Universal Orlando® within the next month to get one final ride of the classic attraction, JAWS®.

Please leave a comment below if you would like to share your thoughts or a memorable experience with the JAWS® attraction.

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party 2011

November 14th, 2011 at 9:59 PM EST - by MelindaC

From mid-November and throughout December, Orlando's most popular attraction will be inviting guests to experience a once and a lifetime holiday celebration with Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party 2011. The special event on select dates each winter will occupy the Magic Kingdom® with a combination of entertainment, parades and a nightly fireworks celebration.

The annual celebration will be highlighted by Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade. The parade itself will travel down the world famous Main Street USA section of the park, while visitors take in special appearances from a bevy of classic Walt Disney characters. The parade features two major appearances from Santa Claus and Mickey Mouse.

As always, the characters will play a special role in this annual holiday celebration. On top of being a part of the parade, Walt Disney characters will be throughout the park offering a chance for meet and greets with attendees. They will also take part in the live entertainment that will be provided throughout the park, including different shows and musicals.

Each night of the celebration will be topped off by a special fireworks show entitled Holiday Wishes: Celebrate the Spirit of the Season. The show itself will include the special lighting of the Cinderella Castle, as well as a one of a kind fireworks extravaganza that will light up the sky over the Magic Kingdom®.

The holidays are about spending time with the family and celebrating love. The Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party offers a rare chance to get over to the parks and take in a night of exclusive shows and activities. Many are used to the routine celebration of Christmas or Chanukah at home in their Orlando apartments and houses, however this provides an alternative celebration for Florida residents and visitors. Children can celebrate the holiday cheer and the jubilation of the Disney experience together for a magical outing.

The Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party will run from November 8 until December 18, 2011. Dates for the event include November 8, 9, 11, 13, 15, 18, 27, 29, 30, as well as December 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 16, 18. The official hours for the Christmas celebration at Magic Kingdom® will be 7pm to Midnight on the previously mentioned dates.
